Key Responsibilities
- Operate hydraulic excavators of various sizes to dig trenches, foundations, and drainage channels, and to move earth according to project specifications and safety guidelines
- Perform daily pre-operational checks on the excavator, including inspecting hydraulic hoses, tracks, engine oil, coolant, and safety devices, and report any issues to the site supervisor
- Read and interpret construction drawings, grade stakes, and site markings to ensure excavation is carried out to the correct depth, width, and alignment
- Coordinate with site supervisors, surveyors, and other equipment operators to sequence earthmoving activities and avoid underground utilities or other hazards
- Maintain the cleanliness of the excavator cabin and undercarriage, and perform routine lubrication and basic maintenance as directed
- Follow all Japanese construction site safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, hand signals, and proper shutdown procedures
- Keep a daily log of machine hours, fuel consumption, and work performed, and assist with basic site clean-up and labouring tasks when the excavator is not in use
Qualifications
A high school diploma is required. You need at least one year of proven experience operating an excavator, supported by a Certificate of Employment. Experience with backhoes or other construction machinery is an advantage. Physical fitness is essential for climbing in and out of the cab, performing daily inspections, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. Good eyesight is required. A valid driver’s licence is preferred. A willingness to learn Japanese language basics is essential. Filipino citizens aged twenty to forty years old with a valid passport are encouraged to apply. A clean criminal record and the ability to pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug test are required. Candidates with small tattoos may be considered at the employer’s discretion.
