Key Responsibilities
- Test and observe the electrical and mechanical condition of motors, transformers, and other electro‑mechanical equipment to identify faults and needed repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of AC and DC electric motors, generators, switchgear, and transformers
- Wind, assemble, and install various types of coils, armatures, and stators according to precise specifications and engineering drawings
- Replace or recondition worn components such as shafts, bearings, commutators, and other parts
- Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors to ensure smooth, vibration‑free operation
- Test repaired motors and electrical apparatus using specialized equipment to verify proper performance before returning them to service

Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Electric Motor Systems Technician (EMST) trade certification is required. Candidates who have completed at least Level 3 of the Motor Winder apprenticeship program are also encouraged to apply
- At least three years of hands‑on experience in AC and DC electric motor winding and re‑winding, stator re‑winding, or related electro‑mechanical repair
- Solid understanding of electrical theory, motor construction, and the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with pumps, compressors, or rotating equipment is essential
- Capable of performing precise mechanical measurements and using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, meggers, and growlers
- Physically fit to handle heavy loads, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that require bending and kneeling. Must be able to distinguish between colours for wiring purposes
