Key Responsibilities
- Prepare fields for planting by tilling soil, removing weeds and debris, and setting up irrigation lines as directed by the farm supervisor
- Plant seeds and seedlings according to spacing and depth guidelines, ensuring proper coverage and soil contact
- Apply fertilisers and crop protection agents using hand tools or backpack sprayers, following all safety instructions
- Monitor crop health daily, identify signs of pests, disease, or nutrient deficiencies, and report findings to the supervisor
- Harvest vegetables at peak ripeness, using hand tools or by hand, and carefully place them into collection bins to avoid damage
- Sort and grade harvested produce by size, colour, and quality, then wash, trim, and pack vegetables for shipment
- Clean and maintain farm tools, equipment, and work areas, including washing harvest bins and sweeping packing sheds
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. You need at least one year of verifiable work experience in general crop farming, vegetable production, or a related agricultural field. Physical fitness is essential for bending, kneeling, lifting up to 15 kilograms, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. A willingness to learn basic Japanese language is expected. A valid driver’s licence is an advantage. Filipino citizens aged twenty-two to forty years old with a valid passport are encouraged to apply. A clean criminal record and the ability to pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug test are required. Candidates with visible tattoos may be considered at the employer’s discretion.
