A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brisbane is looking for a reliable and thorough Cleaner to join their facilities team. Everleigh State School is committed to the success and wellbeing of every child, and that commitment extends to the environment in which they learn. A clean, safe, and hygienic school building helps students focus, reduces the spread of illness, and creates a sense of pride for everyone who walks through the gates. If you take pride in making surfaces sparkle, removing cobwebs, and ensuring that toilets, sick bays, and common areas are spotless, this role offers a stable opportunity to contribute to a positive educational setting. You will work independently, using extendable equipment to reach high areas, cleaning windows, doors, taps, sinks, and paved surfaces. Your attention to detail will directly support the health and wellbeing of hundreds of children and staff members.
Company Overview
The employer is Everleigh State School, a government primary school in Brisbane’s growing outer suburbs. The school is part of the Queensland Department of Education and follows strict health and safety guidelines. They are committed to equity, continuous improvement, and providing an inclusive learning environment. The facilities team works behind the scenes to ensure that classrooms, bathrooms, and outdoor areas are always ready for learning. The school values employees who are dependable, thorough, and take initiative. This is not a commercial cleaning role with unpredictable hours; it is a school based position with a consistent schedule and the satisfaction of serving your local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean windows, pictures, doorknobs, taps, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, glass doors, and cupboards to remove smudges, dust, and grime
- Clean and sanitise toilet facilities and sick bays thoroughly, including toilets, urinals, basins, mirrors, and floors, restocking soap and paper products
- Clean and maintain cleaning equipment such as mops, buckets, vacuum cleaners, and cloths, reporting any damage or need for replacement
- Control cobwebs and mildew using extendable equipment to reach high ceilings and corners safely
- Clean concrete, bitumen, asphalt, and paved surfaces around the school, removing leaves, dirt, and organic growth
- Empty waste and recycling bins from classrooms and common areas, replacing liners and disposing of rubbish in designated external bins
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or vandalism to the school administration immediately
Qualifications
No formal degree is required. Previous experience in commercial or school cleaning is preferred but not essential. You must be physically fit for standing, bending, reaching, and using extendable equipment. A current National Police Clearance and a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) are mandatory for working in a Queensland school. Good communication skills in English are needed to understand instructions and report issues. Australian working rights are required. You must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. A positive attitude and respect for the school environment are essential.
