Key Responsibilities
- Stock your housekeeping bag to ensure enough cleaning supplies, equipment, and amenities are available to properly clean each room
- Observe proper knocking procedures before entering any guest room, announcing your presence clearly
- Clean the guest rooms assigned to you, ensuring amenities are stocked for each cleaned room and completing the entire housekeeping checklist
- Accurately mark clean rooms for your supervisor to inspect, using the designated system or paperwork
- Report any damages or hazards present in guest rooms such as burned out light bulbs, broken furniture, or broken lights through Guestware or to the housekeeping coordinator
- Secure guest room doors upon exiting each room to maintain guest safety and security
- Keep corridors and service areas neat at all times throughout your shift
- Turn in all lost and found items and all guest room keys to the appropriate department without delay
- Assist other housekeeping personnel when needed to help the team stay on schedule
Qualifications
No prior housekeeping experience is strictly required, but a willingness to learn and follow procedures is essential. You must be able to bend and reach to dust, clean, and make beds and bathrooms. Standing and walking for long periods is a daily requirement. You will need to talk to guests and coworkers to give information and answer questions. Visual inspection skills are needed to check rooms for cleanliness and any belongings left behind. Physical demands include lifting up to fifty pounds, with frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
