Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions in agricultural equipment, including tractors, tillage equipment, seeding equipment, and harvesting equipment, using computerized and manual testing tools
- Service and repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and the electrical and electronic components of agricultural machinery
- Take defective units apart, repair or replace broken, worn‑out, or faulty parts, then reassemble, adjust, lubricate, and test repaired units
- Assemble and adjust new farm equipment, including calibrating advanced systems such as automated steering and precision farming technologies
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and safety inspections according to manufacturer schedules
- Clean, maintain, and service attachments and working tools such as loaders, mowers, balers, and tillage implements
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs, parts used, and labour hours for warranty and billing purposes, and communicate effectively with customers about work performed
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. You need a relevant trade certificate or diploma in agricultural equipment technology, heavy duty mechanics, or a related field. At least two to three years of hands‑on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining agricultural machinery is essential. You must be physically fit for lifting heavy parts, bending, and standing for extended periods. A valid driver’s licence is mandatory, and a Class 2 or higher licence is an advantage. Good English communication skills are needed for reading technical manuals and interacting with customers. A strong commitment to safety and attention to detail is critical.
